Divine House is a San Diego outpatient rehab center with a unique approach to drug and alcohol addiction treatment that focuses heavily on the mental health aspect of addiction.

Individuals beginning recovery can choose a partial hospitalization program (PHP), also called a day program. Those needing additional support to balance their recovery process with everyday life in recovery’s later stages can choose to enroll in our intensive outpatient rehab (IOP) program.
Our facility offers outpatient rehab at two levels. We are a primary care mental health disorder treatment center, providing therapy for clients with co-occurring mental health disorders who also require addiction recovery services.
We treat the following mental health conditions:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Panic disorders
- Anger management
- Addiction
- PTSD
- Family counseling
- Couples counseling
- Stress management
- Coping techniques
What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
Partial hospitalization programs and treatments in the San Diego area provide moderate addiction treatment and care in a safe, supportive and highly structured environment. Designed for addiction treatment’s early stages, PHPs involve several hours of daily therapy and other family programs, and then going home or to an approved sober living facility.
What Clients Learn in PHP
During their minimum 30 days in this outpatient rehab program, clients learn how to improve mental health and reduce their risk of relapse while receiving encouragement from support groups to become more independent and accountable.

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program?
Intensive outpatient rehab supports individuals as they work on recovery challenges while living at home. Daily therapeutic techniques are administered on a flexible schedule to accommodate work obligations, and individuals return home at the end of treatment.
What Clients Learn in IOP
Intensive outpatient treatment programs for drug and alcohol addiction give clients the opportunity to learn and implement strategies and skills in daily life. IOP treatment, along with anger management workshops, depression treatment and coping techniques, provide clients with the tools they need for long-term recovery.

What Are Some Differences Between PHP and IOP?
Although a PHP and IOP program may seem similar, they are very different types of outpatient rehab.
Generally speaking, the cycle of addiction treatment begins with medical detox, followed by inpatient admission and PHP. Following the completion of treatment with PHP is enrollment into intensive outpatient drug and alcohol rehab, with the outpatient treatment or aftercare program representing the final stage of treatment.
PHP requires a far greater time commitment than outpatient rehab. Clients who are attending PHPs are still in the early stages of addiction treatment, and so benefit most from several hours of therapy per day.
Intensive outpatient rehab is for individuals returning to daily life, and so requires only a few hours of daily commitment. IOPs allow clients to attend treatment while they work and meet life’s other obligations.

Available Therapies
The Divine House partial hospitalization treatment plan offers group and individual sessions, family counseling and other treatments. Sessions are offered in an individualized combination.
Support groups, individual therapy and mental health services are provided to Divine House outpatient rehab clients. Individual therapy is customized and group therapy provides the opportunity for connection with others in recovery.
Positive mental health is an important component of outpatient rehab. Clients needing dual diagnosis treatment or who are experiencing serious mental health problems can access our specialty groups, which focus on healing through art, self-care and more. Treatment is also provided to target specific issues including sleep and eating disorders and OCD.
In Divine House outpatient rehab, clients engage with their local community, enjoying sober living activities and making personal connections.

The Methods of Treatment We Offer
Divine House’s specialists and practitioners are trained to administer several treatment methods at our specialized facility, including:
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
- Biofeedback/Neurofeedback
- Trauma-Informed Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Feeling out of control of your addiction can make it seem like you’re all alone. But when you can recognize the patterns of self-destructive behavior and regulate your emotions, healing begins. Dialectical behavioral therapy focuses on addiction recovery through the use of 4 modules: emotion regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Intrusive thoughts cause anxiety, depression and other mental health disorders that can undermine addiction recovery. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps you focus on how thoughts and beliefs affect actions and behaviors. The benefits of a cognitive behavioral therapy program in a San Diego rehab include developing skills and coping techniques to help you overcome challenges, receiving anxiety treatment and/or depression treatment, and learning how to be self-confident.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
Past events can cause trauma and negative emotions that can resurface with certain triggers. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, or EMDR therapy, modifies the way your brain stores memories by progressing through 8 phases of addiction treatment with eye movements.

Biofeedback Therapy
Addiction to alcohol begins in the brain’s reward center. Biofeedback therapy uses electrodes to monitor brain wave activity, and then plays it back to you in various ways, activating the brain’s reward center for positive brain waves and teaching your brain to function in healthier ways.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
PTSD and the anxiety, panic attacks and disturbing memories associated with it can keep you from achieving the recovery you want. Traumatic experience therapy employs CBT and EMDR, and family counseling services to help you mitigate symptoms of PTSD, achieve thorough healing from traumatic events, and accept and love who you are.
